Alfred “Al” Edward Kallus
Alfred “Al” Edward Kallus, 86, died Dec. 12, 2014 Alfred was born in Flatonia on July 27, 1928, the eldest son of Alois and Elenora Kallus. From 1934, the family resided in Luling and all three sons received their education there. Alfred attended St. Mary’s Seminary in La Porte and Houston and later Southwestern University in Georgetown. He was ordained as a Catholic Priest in 1956 and served in the Austin and central Texas areas. In 1970, he resigned the ministry and from that time was engaged in the home building profession until his retirement in 2000. He is survived by his wife, Elma (Ellie) Hodges; a brother, Patrick Kallus and his wife Joyce of Huntsville, Alabama; and many nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 19, 2014 at the St. Edith Stein Catholic Church in Katy, where mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, with Rev. Ryszard Kulma officiating. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2014 at the Fairview Cemetery in Bastrop.
