Margaret Anne Sindt Hays

Margaret Anne Sindt Hays died on Dec. 30, 2014. She was born in Enid, Okla. on Jan. 16, 1930. She was the third child of Waldemar and Mildred Sindt. She was the widow of George Lee Hays. Margaret is survived by her three sons, Hugh and wife Kim, Kurt and wife Norma and Marc and fiancé Rae. She has one surviving brother, Jim and his wife Nicki; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister Jean Ellen and her husband Allen.
Margaret attended SMU and married George immediately after graduation. She taught elementary school in Ft. Worth and in Houston. She and George traveled extensively. The entire family enjoyed their “farm” in Fayette County and Margaret made it her home after losing George in 1991. She became very involved with the local community including Waldek Lutheran Church, the Ledbetter Homemaker’s Society, Monument Hill State Park as well as tutoring children in the community and enjoying the local retired teachers association. Margaret spent several of her last years living in Bryan with her son Kurt and wife, Norma. Her last few months were spent in Estrella Care Center in Georgetown. She went to be with her Lord after a brief stay surrounded by family members and a caring staff in Hospice Austin’s Christopher House. A memorial service/celebration of life will be held on Jan. 24, 2015 at 12 p.m. at Waldek Lutheran Church, located at 6915 Waldeck Church Lane.
