Funeral services for William Wayne Albers, 82 of Ledbetter, were held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2015 at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Giddings with Father James Olnhausen officiating. Burial followed in the Waldeck Cemetery in Waldeck. He passed away suddenly on  the afternoon of Monday, Jan. 5, 2015 at his home in Ledbetter. William was born on Nov. 20, 1932 on the family farm in Ledbetter to Fred Otto Albers and Clara Augusta (Weber) Albers. He served in the U.S. Army with the Occupation Forces in Germany during the Korean  Conflict. William was united in marriage to Jacqueline Buckner on Dec. 31, 1955 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Houston. He worked as a machine operator with the American Can Company in Houston for many  years. After retiring, he and Jackie moved back to the family farm in Ledbetter where William could usually be found doing anything outdoors. He enjoyed gardening, working in his yard and fishing. The last few years he spent time watching sports on television, reading and doing word search and word puzzles. William was a member of St. Margaret’s Catholic Church and had been a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Carmine Lions Club. William was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Clara Albers; his brother, Louis  “Buck” Albers; his sister-in-law, Ethel Mae Buckner and his two brothers-in-law, Aubrey “Buck” Buckner and Jimmy Buckner. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jacqueline Albers of Ledbetter; his son and daughter- in-law, Billy and Emma Albers of Humble; his daughter  and son-in-law, Cynthia and Ron Reyner of Spring; his four grandchildren, Tara Badeaux and her husband, Jonathan of Houston, Sean Mahan of San Antonio, Veronica Reyner of O’Fallon, Mo. and William Reyner III of Spring; his two sisters- in-law, Maebelle Albers of Ledbetter and Joyce Buckner of Tomball; as well as several cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Memorials may be made to St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Giddings, the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association. Phillips &  Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings was in charge of arrangements.
