Danny Willis Smith

Danny Willis Smith, 72, of La Grange, died Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015 at his home. Danny was born in Burkburnett on July 31, 1942 the son of Leemon and Mary Helen (Darland) Smith. He married Betty (Vajdak) Smith on Jan. 1, 1989. Danny was a loving father, husband and friend, and never met a stranger. He had a larger than life sense of humor. He loved working on his family tree, enjoying his grandchildren, and traveling in the RV. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved deer hunting and fresh water fishing. He was fascinated with learning about technology. He is survived by his wife,

Betty Smith; two daughters, Tammy Harrison and husband, James, of Victoria; Tiffany Fernandez and husband, Jerry, of Alvin; two stepdaughters: Jeanna Laureles and Julie Scamardo, both of Bryan; one stepson, John Philp and wife, Elva, of Karnes City; sister, Erma Heaton of Corpus Christi; half-sister: Kay Smith Jones of Casper, Wy.; four grandchildren: Brittany and Bethany Harrison and Collin and Kayla Fernandez; three stepgrandchildren: Jessica Sierra; Jonathan and Jason Scamardo; three great-grandchildren: Damian Perez, Alyssa Perez, and Neriah Daniels; and  his beloved  companion, Chewey. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Betty Jo Thompson; two brothers: Leemon

Smith Jr. and Richard Smith. Memorial Services were held at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home in La Grange at 3 p.m.

on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015. A luncheon followed services at Randolph Recreation Center, 653 E. Pearl in La Grange.
