Renaissance at Winedale

Last year U.T. Briscoe Center for American History Director Don Carleton came in for some criticism from longtime supporters of Winedale for the condition of the grounds and several of the historic structures there. (Winedale is a division  of the Center.) The fuss was kicked off by a critical article in the Houston Chronicle and kept alive by letters to the editor in that paper and The Record. Carleton subsequently defended his stewardship of Ima Hogg’s pet project in northern Fayette County in an interview with this reporter.
