Wilbert “Red” Otto Miller
Wilbert “Red” Otto Miller, 90, of La Grange, died Tuesday, March 3, 2015. Wilbert was born in Copperas Cove on April 16, 1924, the son of Erich and Selma (Kriegel) Miller. He married Marilyn Frank on Aug. 16, 1953 in Alice. Wilbert was a Principal, teacher and a coach for La Grange ISD for 27 years. He retired from LGISD in 1986. Following his passion, he went on to Texas Lutheran University to coach. He also coached in Columbus for six years. He is survived by wife, Marilyn Miller; three sons: William “Bill” Miller and wife, Dayna, of New Braunsfels; Neal Miller and wife, Deanna, of La Grange; Michael Miller and wife, Cindy, of Floresville; five sisters: Dora Hayden of San Antonio; Esterleen Fisher and husband, Clarence, of Bartlett; Velma Holck and husband, Albert, of Austin; Helen Stephenson and husband, Jack, of Bastrop; Joyce Miller and husband, Klaus Adam, of Houston; two brothers: Eric Miller and wife, Shirley, of Georgetown; Larry Miller and wife, Dodie, of Edgewood, New Mexico; brother-in-law, Jerome Hierhaltzer of Comfort; nine grandchildren: Cody, Kate, Cason, Matthew, Hannah and Heath Fuller, Caleb, Aaron and Levi; great-grandchild, Lillian Fuller; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters: Lorene Hierhaltzer and LaVerne Miller; four grandchildren: Joel, Micah, Luke and Daniel; father and mother-in-law; George and Mary Frank; three brothers-inlaw: Ed Hayden, George Frank, Jr. and Bill Karnau; two sisters-in-law: Eileen Karnau and Florence Frank; and niece, Sally Karnau. Visitation was held on Thursday, March 5, 2015 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home. Family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 427 S. Washington St. in La Grange, at 3 p.m. on Friday, March 6, 2015.
