Leon John Hrachovy

Leon John Hrachovy, 70, of La Grange, died Sunday, March 29, 2015. Leon was born in La Grange on Feb. 7, 1945, the son of John J. and Annie (Dusek) Hrachovy Jr. He married Bonnie Ickert on Nov. 16, 1968 in Hostyn. Leon was raised on a farm in Hostyn and attended Hostyn and La Grange elementary schools. He graduated from Bishop Forest High School in Schulenburg in 1963. After high school, he served his country in the United States Army Reserves. After the military, he went to work for R.C. Bottling Company for 12 years and then La Grange Concrete for 32 years. Leon loved his cattle, flowers, and plants. He took great pride in maintaining yards for many families. Many will remember Leon for his yard work and his big heart for cats, especially his companion, Buddy. Leon was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of La Grange, KJT Society No. 3 of Hostyn, Knights of Columbus Chromcik Council No. 2574 of La Grange, and Texas Farm Bureau. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Bonnie Ickert Hrachovy; sister, Rose Marek of Houston; brother, Eugene Hrachovy of La Grange; sister-in-law, Dolores Hrachovy of Schulenburg; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Warren and DouVena Ickert of Round Top; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, John J. and Annie Hrachovy Jr.; two brothers: Laddie Hrachovy and infant brother, Senator A. Hrachovy; and brother-in-law, John Otis Marek. Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home in La Grange, Texas. Family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Grange at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2015. Burial followed at La Grange City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Building Fund, 539 E.
