Edwin “Eddie” George Rauch Jr., 65 of Nechantiz, died Saturday, April 11, 2015 in La Grange after a battle with cancer.
Eddie was born on Feb. 14, 1950 to the late Edwin Rauch Sr. and Martha F. Sevcik Rauch. He married Mary Drescher on
July 31, 1971. He graduated from Round Top Carmine High School in 1968. Eddie retired from Lower Colorado River Authority on Sept. 28, 2006, after having completed more than 27 years of service at the Fayette Power Project, where he exhibited a variety of skills and was mostly valued as an overhead crane operator. Before Eddie went to work for the  Fayette project he worked for Texas Timbers Cabinet Company, Carl Thumber General Construction, Frenzel Repair Shop, and Hurricane Steel. He also did farming, raised cattle, and made hay. Eddie was a member of Waldeck Lutheran Church, where he served on the Church Council, was part of the Bar-B-Que crew for fundraisers, and helped at the 
pit making hamburgers for Sunday School picnics. Eddie was a lifetime member of the NRA and the Texas State Rifle Association, Farm Bureau and the Round Top Sons of Hermann, where he served for a number of years as an officer.
Eddie is survived by his wife of 43 years, Mary Rauch of Nechanitz; one son, David Edwin Rauch of Nechanitz; one daughter, Melanie Rauch of Nechanitz; two granddaughters, Brook Rauch of La Grange, and Sophie Rauch of Nechanitz; four sisters- in-law, Mae Rausl and her husband Jimmie of La Grange, Dorothy Pierce and husband Roger of La Grange, Margaret Bernhausen and husband Larry of Ledbetter, and Bonnie Stewart of Bryan; one brother-in-law, Frank (Buster) Drescher and his wife Beverly of La Grange; mother-in-law, Mary Drescher of La Grange; numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends also survive. Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, aunt and uncle Frank and Cleo Rauch and father-in-law Frank Charles Drescher. Visitation will be from noon until 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2015 at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home with the family receiving guests from 5 to 7 p.m. A prayer service will follow at 7 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at the Waldeck Lutheran Church. Interment will follow at the Waldeck Cemetery under the care and direction of Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange. Memorial  contributions may be made to the Waldeck Lutheran Church 6915 Waldeck Church Ln. Ledbetter, Texas 78946 to the Gardenia Janssen Animal Shelter 240 Svoboda Ln. La Grange, Texas 78945. Fayette Memorial Funeral Home was in  charge of arrangements.
