Leroy Paul Kappler

Leroy Paul Kappler, 85 of Austin and formerly of Giddings, died suddenly the evening of Thursday, April 16, 2015 in Austin. Leroy was born on April 8, 1930 in Serbin to Willie and Minnie (Synatschk) Kappler. Leroy served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and received his Honorable Discharge on Dec. 16, 1954 having obtained the rank of Sergeant Leroy retired from the State of Texas Purchasing Department following over 20 years of service. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Austin and the American Legion. Leroy’s joy in life was his niece and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. He treasured the time he spent with them and enjoyed attending all of their various activities. Services were held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 19, 2014 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings with Rev. Mark Nuckols officiating. Burial, with military honors in the Giddings City Cemetery.
