Kuehn Reflects on Two Decades on the LG City Council

The Fayette County Record When long-time La Grange city councilman Calvin Kuehn, who retired this week, first ran for the Ward 3 seat 20 years ago in 1995, he didn’t have to work that hard introducing himself to local voters. That’s because Kuehn had been a U.S. Post Office clerk and town carrier for years and knew just about everybody in town. “The policy back then was that the carriers watched the house. If something didn’t look just right – if the mail didn’t get picked up right away – then something was wrong.” He related a case in which a lady had fallen and broken her hip. Kuehn called it in. “That was part of our job,” he said.
