Lee Roy Shoppa

Lee Roy Shoppa, 94, of La Grange, died Friday, May 15, 2015, at Christopher House in Austin.
Lee Roy was born in Wharton, on Jan. 21, 1921, the son of Louis and Millie (Kocian) Shoppa. He married Evelyn Hrbacek on July 19, 1945, in Plum. Lee Roy served his country in the Army Air Force as a sergeant from August 1942 to February 1946. Lee Roy enjoyed fishing, gardening, dominoes, hunting, casino trips, Rangers and Astros baseball, and Longhorn softball. He is survived by his son, Mike Shoppa and wife Suzie; daughter, Shirley Schaeffer and husband John, all of La Grange; three grandchildren, Lauri and husband Chuck Ambrose of Keller, Dwayne and wife Abigail Shoppa of Austin, and Erik and wife Allyson of San Jose, Calif.; four great-grandchildren, Emmie Ambrose, Weslie and Grayson Shoppa, and Marty Schaeffer; brothers-in-law, Elwert Kansteiner of Austin and Emil Hrbacek of Pearland and several nephews and a niece. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife-Evelyn Hrbacek Shoppa, and his sisters Earline Kansteiner and Gladys Shoppa. Visitation was held Saturday, May 16, 2015 from 2 to 7 p.m. at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange. The family received visitors from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services were scheduled for Sunday, May 17 at 2 p.m. at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange. Interment followed in the La Grange City Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hostyn or to St. Mark’s Medical Center in La Grange or to the charity of one’s choice. Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange was in charge of arrangements.
