Monument to Sheriff Jim Found Hiding in Plain Sight

ZZ Top’s tour stop in La Grange during the Fayette County Fair later this year has renewed some memories locally about the Chicken Ranch. ZZ Top immortalized the Little Ol’ Brothel in their 1973 hit song “La Grange.” A year later, in 1974, Fayette County Fair Association erected a monument to Sheriff Jim Flournoy and County Judge Ike Petras near the entrance to the fairgrounds. It was moved some time later.
