Egg Shortage Not Going Over Easy for Local Bakeries

You can’t make kolaches without cracking a few eggs, and the national egg shortage has some local bakers feeling the heat.
The price of eggs ticked up 85 percent in June following an outbreak of avian flu in the nation’s chicken flocks. As many as 40 million laying hens have
been euthanized in an effort to control the disease.
