Alice Ruth (Eifert) Kunze, 86, of Warda, died Saturday, July 25, 2015. Alice was born in Port Arthur on Jan. 4, 1929, the daughter of Rev. Paul C. and Ruth (Moerbe) Eifert. She married Otto R. Kunze on Aug. 5, 1951 at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Warda. Alice enjoyed cooking, canning, gardening, sewing, spending time with family and participating in church. She loved traveling abroad while working with her husband. She was a member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and served as their secretary. She loved being involved with the Sewing Circle where they created the most beautiful quilts. She was also a Sunday school teacher and an avid Texas A&M Aggies sports fan. She is survived by her husband, Otto R. Kunze of Warda; three sons: Glenn Kunze of Austin, Allen Kunze of College Station, and Charles Kunze of Grand Prairie; daughter, Karen Gerdes and husband, Mark, of Hutto; brother, Rev. Herbert Eifert of Pasadena; two brothers-in-law: George Kunze of Warda and Raymond Kunze and wife, Evelyn, of Round Rock; three sisters-in-law: Doris Teinert of Port Arthur, Eleanor Eifert of Pflugerville, and Judy Beck and husband, Hugh, of Austin; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers: Pauly Eifert, Martin Eifert, and Rev. Walter Eifert. Visitation was held on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home, 208 W. Pearl St. in La Grange. Family received friends from 4 to 8 p.m. A prayer service was held at 7 p.m. Funeral services were held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 600 FM 1482 in Warda, at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2015. Burial followed at Holy Cross Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Cross History Library, P.O.
