Anne Helen (Schuhmacher) Yates, 96, of La Grange, died on Friday, July 31, 2015 at St. Mark’s Medical Center. Anne was born in Rutersville
on Aug. 31, 1918, the daughter of John Charles and Leonida (Amberg) Schuhmacher. Anne was a descendant of one of the founders of Sacred
Heart Church. She was one of the first graduates of Sacred Heart School, a member of the Living Rosary Circle, Ladies’ Altar Society, charter member
of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Annunciation No. 1962 and a Lady of the Holy Sepulcher. She served as secretary of Sacred Heart
Church for eight years and was one of the first Eucharistic Ministers. Anne volunteered at the switchboard at Fayette Memorial Hospital for 33 years and
was also a volunteer and a member of St. Mark’s Auxiliary. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed needlepoint. She is survived by daughter,
Nancy Yates Kilty and husband, William Kilty, Jr., of La Grange; son, William Arthur Yates and wife, Kathleen, of Houston; and daughter, Mary
Yates Clifton and husband, Jim, of Cypress; five grandchildren: Suzanne Kilty Callaway and husband, Michael, of Brenham; Meg Benkel and husband,
Brian, of Ft. Worth; Kelly Kozel and husband, Andy, of Tampa; Marci Kacal and husband, Kyle, of College Station, TX; and Emily Wolf and husband,
Jamie, of Houston; eight greatgrandchildren: Frank and William Kozel, Ethan and Liam Benkel, Carter and Kendall Kacal, Ashley and Julia Wolf;
youngest sister, Jean Accurso, of Dallas; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; five siblings; and husband, Bill Yates, of
almost 65 years, who died in July, 2002. Together, Bill and Anne, enjoyed traveling and had many friends through memberships in the dance,
anniversary, and other social clubs in La Grange. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2015 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Koenig &
Strickland Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic
Church, 539 E. Pearl St. in La Grange, at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2015. Burial will follow at Rutersville Cemetery. Memorial contributions
