David Beaton
Born on June 3, 1928 in Edmundston, New Brunswick, Canada, to Archibald Hugh Beaton and Esther Margaret MacLeod, Alexander David
Beaton went to his eternal reward on Aug. 3, 2015. Preceded in death by his wife, and the love of his life, Florence Elizabeth Kerrigan
Beaton in 2009, David is succeeded by his children, Douglas, David, Matthew, Scott, Alice, Christopher, Nancy and Joanne, 16 grandchildren and
15 great-grandchildren. After his entry into the United States through Madawaska, Maine at a very early age, his formative years were
spent in Virginia, Tennessee and Indiana. David experienced the Great Depression, lived through WWII, and, as a Canadian immigrant, gained
US citizenship in the mid- 1940s. A lifelong member of the Roman Catholic Church, David was a long standing member of the Knights of Columbus and
the Legion of Mary, dedicating his life to the profession of the Catholic faith, and in later life, along with his sister, Antonia Maria Beaton Crabtree, spent
countless hours in an attempt to better the lives of the Native American Apache Catholics of the northwest New Mexico reservations. An outstanding athlete in
his youth, David still holds numerous pitching records establishedin the 1950s related to the pitching statistics of the Independent Baseball Leagues
in Texas. His physical activity and love of sports, (especially the New York Yankees and the Notre Dame college football teams), was passed down to his
children, as evidenced by his participation in Corpus Christi city league softball teams aside his sons well into the 1980s. He enjoyed many hours watching
his favorite teams during his later years. David will be remembered for his love of life, family, Church and his adopted state of Texas. An accomplished story
teller, his wit, humor and ability to relate to everyone made him at home in every setting he entered, and his career in sales gave him instant acceptability
to everyone in every situation. In lieu of flowers, the familyasks that donations be madein his name to The WoundedWarrior Project or to the St.
Jude Children’s Research Hospital. He will be missed by all. Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015, from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. at St. John
the Baptist Catholic Church in Fayetteville. Rosary will be recitedat 9:30 a.m. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday 8, 2015 at
10:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fayetteville. Interment will follow in St. John Catholic Cemetery in Fayetteville.
Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange was in charge of arrangements.
