Douglas Etzel

Graveside services forDouglas Etzel, 52 of Round Top and formerly of Houston, were held on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2015 at Florida Chapel Cemetery in  Round Top with Rev. Russell Etzel officiating. Doug died Sunday, Aug. 9, 2015. He honorably served in the U.S. Army and was a plumber by trade. He was preceded in death by  his father, Burgess J. Etzel Sr. Doug is survived by his mother, Frances Vernell Etzel of Round Top; his older brother,  Burgess J. Etzel, sister-in-law, Lagenia and nieces, Makenzie Hope and Dottie Faith of Spring; his younger brother, Rev. Russell “Red” Etzel and sister-in-law, Elizabeth of Houston; his sister, Carol Jean Etzel, brother-in-law, Usamah Zagaar and nephew, Adam Zagaar of Houston; his aunts and uncle, Dottie Jean Etzel of Round Top, Deloise and Eugene McGill of Round Top, Edna Lehmann of Pinehurst and Meta Baker of Cushing, and numerous cousins and friends. Memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, Ohio 45250-0301, the Florida  Chapel Cemetery Association, 523 East FM 1291, Round Top, Texas 78954 or to the charity of one’s choice. Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings was in charge of arrangements.
