Five older brothers set the example for World War II veteran Charles A. Frietsch of Schulenburg. Between 1942 and 1945, Walter, Emil, Victor, Alvin and Werner
Frietsch of the High Hill community all served overseas at the same time. Therefore, it wasn’t surprising that in 1946 when Charles turned 18 years old, he
listened attentively to the promises made by an Army recruiter who was visiting Schulenburg High School.
