A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday, Aug. 31, 2015 at 10 a.m. at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette for Bernice K. Kovar, 85,
who died Friday, Aug. 28, 2015 at Lady of the Oaks Retirement Manor in Lafayette. Visitation was observed on Sunday, Aug. 30, 2015 from 5
to 8 p.m. and resumed Monday, Aug. 31, 2015 at 8:30 a.m. until the time of services, at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette. 
A rosary was recited by Brady LeBlanc, of the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist on Sunday, Aug. 30, 2015 at 6:00 pm at Fountain Memorial Funeral
Home in Lafayette. Entombment followed in Fountain Memorial Cemetery in Lafayette. Reverend Father Gilbert J. Dutel, Pastor of St. Edmond Roman
Catholic Church in Lafayette, officiated. Bernice was born Feb. 15, 1930 in Mercedes and was a long-time resident of Acadiana. She met her husband, Charles
Kovar while attending a dance in Ellinger. They later married in 1948 and had three beautiful daughters. She had a love for music, dancing and flowers. Bernice
will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Bernice is survived by three daughters, Carol Baudoin and her husband, Darrell, Cheryl
Heitman and her husband, Jay, both of Lafayette and Cathy Brennen of Katy; her sister, Marianne Untermeyer; her brother, John Koepke, both of
Columbus; her grandson, Steven Baudoin and his wife, Elissa; her granddaughter, Anita Baudoin Venable and her husband, Michael, both of Lafayette.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Charles J. Kovar; her parents, Leon and Amanda Koehl Koepke; two brothers, Lawrence
