Texas Heroes Day Set for Sept. 19 at Monument Hill State Park

The Dawson Massacre of 1842 will be the main focus of this year’s Texas Heroes Day at Monument Hill State Park on Saturday, September 19. On that date 173 years ago, the Fayette County company of volunteers led by Captain Nicholas Mosby Dawson was nearly wiped out in the battle of Salado Creek near San Antonio.
