Blues BuZZard

When Oscar the Buzzard got up on stage with ZZ Top at the Sept. 5 concert at the Fayette County Fair, lead vocalist Billy Gibbons introduced the bird to the crowd of 17,000 as “the oldest living buzzard on record right there.” What Gibbons didn’t have time to go into was the amazing history of the 48-year old bird (which is actually a black vulture, but is called a buzzard by just about everyone) and its owner Ralph Fisher of Swiss Alp, and their shared connection to the band that dates back 40 years.
