A Hay Baler Burns Up in Ammannsville

A fire in Ammannsville destroyed a John Deere round baler and a single bale of hay on Friday afternoon. A farmer baling hay in a pasture off FM 1383, just across the road from Tofel’s Store in Ammannsville, called in the fire around 4:40 p.m. after noticing smoke from his baler. The farmer quickly dumped the bale that was inside the machine and tried putting out the bale with an extinguisher. The farmer then realized that the baler was on fire. He managed to disconnect the tractor from the baler. By that time, the flames were out of control.
