Grass Fire Sparked by Baling Burns Six Acres

A grass fire near Reiss Road north of Muldoon burned about six acres of pasture on Tuesday afternoon, October 6. The fire started around 3:30 p.m. According to landowner Rick Garza, the fire started when he and a helper were cutting grass in the field to bale into hay. Garza said a blade on his cutter likely hit a rock in the field, throwing a spark and setting the dry grass on fire.
