How to get to the top in state government: start at the bottom, work hard and keep studying. It worked for Sherry Koenning- Cook, a Fayette County woman who, after one year at Blinn College, began as a data entry clerk at the Department of Public Safety in 1978 and in 2014 was named the Outstanding Woman in Texas Government.
