Courthouse Bell Still Tolling After 124 Years

This year’s Fayette County Leadership Class visited the courthouse on Tuesday, Nov. 11, for a day-long session on county government. Courthouse superintendent Gene Zouzalik took the class on a tour of the courthouse, including a visit to the bell tower. The bell weighs 800 pounds and was installed in 1891. Leadership class member and Fayette County Record reporter Andy Behlen shot a video of the bell tolling at 10 a.m. In the video, Zouzalik gives some history of the bell and how it works.
