It’s fall at the Rohan Meadery. And while the bees are getting ready for a winter break, the mead makers are busy. On this particular day, they were bottling their seasonal orange spice mead. “This batch was started in July,” said Wendy Rohan, who owns the meadery with her husband John. She explains that mead is made from fermenting honey and water. Predating the creation of wine (made from fermented fruit) and beer (made from fermented grains), it is believed to be the oldest alcoholic drink on earth.
