LHS Senior is Named First Runner-Up Miss Teen Texas

Who says pageants are all about gowns and crowns? La Grange High School senior Thekla McCarty said that before she was named first runner-up at the Miss Texas Teen USA contest in Houston Sunday, (besting over 80 young ladies from around the state in the process) she did a lot of talking about – of all things – welding. “The judges asked me a lot of questions about my interest in welding,” laughed McCarty, who is the daughter of Ken and Wendy McCarty.
