Margaret (Creppon) Niesner

Margaret (Creppon) Niesner, 93, of La Grange, died Monday, Dec. 28, 2015. Margaret was born in Fayette County on July 2, 1922, the daughter of Fred and Rosie (Hall) Creppon. She married Joe R. Niesner on May 23, 1942 in Angleton. Margaret was known as the “neighborhood mother” that took care of all of the children in the neighborhood while their mothers worked outside of the home. She then started her career as a Manager of Shoe World and then became a “door greeter” at Walmart, known to everyone as “Grandma”. She was a member of the Ladies’ Auxiliary VFW #5254. Her greatest joys in life was baking, cooking and taking care of her family. She is survived by daughter, Jo Ann Henderson and husband, Johnny, of Shreveport, La.; two sons: Gary Niesner and wife, Teresa; Dean Niesner and wife, Kim; sister-in-law, Annie Creppon; niece, Elva Bohot and husband, Victor, all of La Grange; nephew, Kenneth Parnell and wife, Sherry, of Ft. Worth; three grandchildren: Brad Henderson; Kori Eastland and husband, Brian; Kimberly Smidovec and husband, Jerrell; six great grandchildren: Shelby and Kailey Webb; Rylie and Cale Eastland; Braxton and Delaney Smidovec; special nephews: James Niesner; Billy Niesner; Dennis Niesner and wife, Cynthia; special friends: Veronica “Sissie” Kristoff of La Grange and Jean Neal of Brownfield; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded  in death by her parents; husband, Joe R. Niesner; two sisters: Lydia Bunte Karstedt and Docie Parnell; brother, Robert Creppon; and niece, Dinah Fay Niesner. Visitation was held on Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2015 from 12 to 8 p.m. at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services were held at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015. Burial followed at La Grange City Cemetery.
