According to DPS Trooper Michael Leslie, the man driving the tractor was heading west on 71 in the inside lane near D&D Ace Hardware when the accident happened around 3:45 p.m. A Chevy Suburban with a family of five inside struck the tractor from behind at a high rate of speed. The tractor rolled over, losing a rear tire in the process, and came to rest in the outside bar ditch. The man driving the tractor was ejected from his seat.

Leslie said the the tractor was using the required signals and markers for highway travel. He attributed the accident to driver of the Suburban failing to control the vehicle’s speed.

The Record later learned that the driver of the tractor was Brian Mozisek of La Grange. Fayette County EMS transported the him to Brackenridge Hospital in Austin with critical injuries. The occupants of the Suburban were transported to St. Mark's Hospital in La Grange with minor injuries.
