Laurel “Laurie” (Jahn) Allbright
Laurel “Laurie” (Jahn) Allbright, 59, of La Grange, died on Feb. 24, 2016 at St. Mark’s Medical Center in La Grange after a courageous life-long battle with diabetes. Laurie was born in Yoakum on May 16, 1956 to Rudy and Maggie Jahn. She was married to James Allbright of La Grange. She was a graduate of Yoakum High School and was inspired by Aggie family tradition to attend Texas A&M University where she earned her BBA in management. Her business career in La Grange was in funeral home services. She later served as director of the Round Top Chamber of Commerce. She volunteered at Second Chance Emporium, a resale shop for the community’s local churches. Laurie was an avid lover of all dogs. She would often care for pets that needed a temporary home. Her many talents included sewing, needlepoint, cooking, and gardening. She is survived by her son, Braden Fisbeck, of Kyle; her husband, James Allbright; mother, Maggie Jahn of Yoakum; sisters: Denise McGlothlin and husband, John, of Austin; Terri Dieringer of Yoakum; brothers: Mark Jahn and wife, Pat, and Rodney Jahn and wife, Jennifer, of Yoakum; many nephews, nieces, and great-grand nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her father, Rudy Jahn of Yoakum. A memorial service was held on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2016, at 3 p.m. at the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in La Grange with Pastor Candice O’Meara presiding. A reception immediately followed at the First Presbyterian Church fellowship hall. Memorial contributions can be made to the Gardenia Janssen Animal Shelter of La Grange or to a donor’s choice of charity.
