Vernon Lofton Williams, 93, of La Grange, died Feb. 24, 2016 in La Grange. Vernon was born on July 16, 1922 in Clyde to Earl Williams and Nancy Lofton Williams. He was farmer and rancher and served his country in World War II in the United States Navy. He was a charter member of Second Baptist Church in La Grange and member of VFW Post No. 5254 in La Grange. Vernon married Florence Nadine Patton on Nov. 23, 1946 in Yuma Arizona. He is survived by his wife Nadine Patton Williams; two sons, Wayne Williams and wife Tommie of San Antonio and Quin Williams and wife Beth of Casper, Wyoming; two daughters, Debra Diane and Judd Good of Plano and Dr. Karen Simmons of Cypress; nine grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers. Visitation was held Friday, Feb. 26, 2016 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange. The family received visitors at this time. Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Second Baptist Church in La Grange. Interment followed in the Old Plum Grove Cemetery at West Point. Memorial contributions may be made to the Second Baptist Church in La Grange. Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange was in charge of arrangements.
