Remembering When. . .

March 25-29, 1966 The Vietnam conflict came nearer to home when a young Fayetteville man, PCF Robert Urbanofsky, lost his life in jungle fighting near Saigon. Fatally wounded by sniper fire, PFC Urbanofsky was the first Vietnam  asualty for Fayette County. Born near Fayetteville, he graduated from St. John’s High School at Fayetteville in 1963. Before entering the Army, he was employed in Houston. He was sent to Vietnam in September 1965. PFC Urbanofsky was survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vinc Urbanofsky of Fayetteville; two brothers, James of Houston and Eugene of Fayetteville;and a sister in Houston.
