Charles John “CJ” Roensch

Charles John “CJ” Roensch 71, of New Braunfels died at a local hospital on May 12, 2016. CJ was born on Aug. 30, 1944 in La Grange to Charles and Mary Ann (Lycka) Roensch. CJ was a dad and a grandpa, a Vietnam veteran, and a 15 year member of the American Legion. Barbecue was more than just a hobby to him and he loved to drink a beer. CJ was also passionate about hunting, except when it was cold out. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Mary Ann Roensch and a brother Curtis Roensch. CJ is survived by his daughter, Cecily Chappell and husband Eric of New Braunfels; son, John Roensch of Beeville; grandchildren, Erica Chappell and Christian Chappell of New Braunfels; brothers and sisters, William Roensch of La Grange, Mary Jane Henning of La- Grange and Judy Buchanek of Angleton; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. A visitation for CJ will be held on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home at 189 N. Seguin Avenue in New Braunfels. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with a burial to follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in CJ’s memory may be made to the American Legion Walter F. Hoffman Post 179. Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home in Seguin is in charge of arrangements.
