Joyce M. Markwood

Joyce M. Markwood, a resident of New Braunfels, died Sunday morning, May 8, 2016 at Christus Santa Rosa Hospital in New Braunfels. Joyce was born on Sept. 17, 1940 in Smithville to Albert C. Jurica and Frances M. Pechacek. Joyce retired as a senior secretary for Texas A&M University Research and Extension Service, having worked in both Eagle Lake and Beaumont. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, and one sister. She is survived by her loving husband, Darrell Markwood, of New Braunfels; children, Charles Markwood and wife Linda of Burleson, William Markwood of Taylor, Shari Markwood Comer and Husband Lynn of Beaumont, Lisa Markwood Adamcik and husband Fred of La Grange; grandchildren, Will Markwood, Mackenzie Crall, Matthew Markwood, Cody Markwood, Holly Barnet and Rhett Williamson; great-grandchildren, Gunnar Markwood, Tucker Crall and Nora Barnett; brother, William “Billy” Jurica and wife Janet of Muldoon and sister, Betty Mc- Donald and husband Tinker of San Antonio. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at First Baptist Church, 13085 FM 306 in Canyon Lake. The family requests memorial donations be given to the First Baptist Church in Canyon Lake.
