Charles Zapalac Wins JP Run-Off

By H.H. HOWZE  In the Tuesday  runoff for Fayette County Justice of the Peace, Precinct 3, Charles Zapalac prevailed over Terri Steinhauser Hefner 357 (58.52 percent) to 253 (41.48).

These two had been the top two vote-getters in the primary election. Zapalac will replace acting JP Dick Frenzel who was appointed to fill the post after former  Precinct 3 JP Tommy Tipton retired amidst a lottery-fixing scandal.

Zapalac was born and raised in Fayette County and resides  in Muldoon. For the past 15 years he has worked at Flatonia Livestock Commission. He also works in construction with his father, Julius.

“Being born and raised in Precinct 3, I am dedicated to this community,” Zapalac said when he first announced his candidacy.
