By ANDY BEHLEN  Police arrested three Houston men following the shooting of a 31-year-old Honduran national Friday evening at the victim’s workplace, an egg farm on Old Smithville Road north of Flatonia. Lt. David Beyer of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office said investigators believe the attack was over an unpaid debt.

Beyer said deputies received a call around 6 p.m. on Friday, June 3, reporting that a man armed with a gun was chasing a worker at the farm.

“It was raining like cats and dogs out there, and that hampered the investigation, but the team pulled together,” Beyer said.

Deputies Terry Guentert, Darrell Maze, Arvin Gresham, Ben Wilson Sgt. Charles Jobb and Trooper Paul Kohleffel of the Texas Department of Public Safety headed to the scene when the call came in. While officers were on their way, a caller reported that a male subject had been shot multiple times.

Once they arrived, officers learned that three Hispanic males fled in a Toyota Tacoma pickup, possibly toward the Houston area. A witness captured a photo of the pickup and the license plate number.
