Paul E. Koenig

Paul E. Koenig, 99, died Monday, April 25, 2016 in Corpus Christi. His goal was to be 100, but he told us he had lived 100 Christmases, so Daddy, you were 100. He was born on a farm outside of La Grange so work was no stranger to him. He worked hard to provide for his family, from being a carpenter to retiring from the wholesale grocery business. He loved to fish and watch baseball and football. But nothing was more important to him than his family and especially the family reunions. He was strict and all he had to do was give you that “look.” He was also fun loving and loved to tease and joke and pull pranks especially when he was growing up. He was preceded in death by his wife Alene, his parents, and was the last survivor of the Koenig siblings: Charlie, Bob, Sam, Johnny, Bill, Walter, Helen, Myrtle and Hattie. His pride and joy were his children, Robert (Sandra) Koenig and Karen (Harly) Day; his grandchildren, Kristin (Matt) Knifton, Kathryn (Russell) Brewer, John (Wendy) Koenig, Kara (Patrick) Kammerer, Jake Koenig and David Koenig, Brent (Kathy) Day and Jennifer (Travis) Carver, 16 great grandchildren and seven great, great grandchildren. Also surviving him is his sister-in-law, Lorene Koenig and many nieces and nephews. The Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church in Moravia with burial in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to a charity of your choice.
