Victor Paul Schaatt, Sr.
Victor Paul Schaatt, Sr., 76, died June 22, 2016 at St. Mark’s Medical Center in La Grange after a courageous battle with ALS. Victor was born Dec. 21, 1939 in Houston. He lived in West Point with his wife, Doris Schaatt and granddaughter, Brianna Louvier. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Inez Schaatt of Houston and granddaughter, Brittany Charleston of Sargeant. He is survived by his wife, Doris Schaatt; sister, Joyce Cauley and husband Tommy; Children: Donna and John Hundl, Bill and Renee’ Schaatt, Michael and Marcie Schaatt; Victor Jr. And Laura Schaatt; Lucinda and Byron Boyster; Lisa Louvier; Tamela Louvier, Robert Louvier; Heidi and Bill Tutor; Georgia and Eddie Smith; Harold and Sevcan Louvier; 37 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Victor was a member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Plum and a member of the Darby Rough Regulators, SASS, in West Point, using the alias, “Minnetex Slim” and served as Range Officer and a member of the Board of Directors. He was a retired 50-year member of Pipe Fitter’s Local Union 211 in Houston. Victor felt very blessed in life and will be remembered for his deep love of our Lord Jesus Christ; his love of family and friends, his generous spirit, and his zest for living. Visitation was held at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church from noon until 7 p.m. on June 23, 2016. A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Plum. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 126 Plum Church Rd. in Plum on June 24, 2016 at 2 p.m. Burial will take place at Forest Park Cemetery-Lawndale, 6900 Lawndale in Houston, on June 25, 2016 at 2 p.m. Pallbearers are Mike Dye, Mike Dearing, Rusty Scholl, Dave Duston, Martin Brummett, and Bud Alford. Honorary Pallbearers: Ralph Roberts, Wally Van Wart, and Bobby Doran. A special thanks to the caregivers of Standard Hospice for their compassionate care and guidance this past year. In lieu of floral gifts, donations may be made to St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Smithville Church of Christ, or ALS Research. Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange is in charge of arrangements.
