Amanda is survived by her brother J.R. Goodner, sister Caroline Mullins, parents Mark and Mary Goodner, niece Kristin Goodner, nephew Dylan Goodner, uncle James “Pat” Gannon, aunt Laverne Hicks, numerous cousins, numerous aunts and uncles, and her cat Riley. Amanda was a beloved sister, friend and an angel to all. She had a huge heart and was one of the most selfless woman known, with the strength only God can offer to us. She is tremendously respected, loved and admired by all whom just so happen to fall prey to her existence. Her love for her husband John Van Mersbergen was and is more than the word itself. Same for her and her brother, even though they loved the intense friction of competition between her Aggies and his Longhorns. The love that resonated from her would hypnotize you forever. She was a hardcore Spurs fan. She loved her mocha flavored frappuccinos. She loved her baby Riley, her cat, who is addicted to catnip. She would always tell Riley, “You, Riley, need rehab.” She was the most beautiful person inside and out. She loved all her family and there was nothing to crazy for a family that is crazy. She loved her shows “Pretty Little Liars”, “Twilight”, “Vampire Diaries”, “The Originals”, and “Once Upon A Time.” She was a hardcore gamer too. She would stay up late, anxiously anticipating her husband’s next words on Facebook. She had a best friend, Karen, who did a lot of stuff with her. Since moving to La Grange, she made, in almost an instant, another good friend with Connie Rose. She adored and spoiled her nieces and nephews, and noone could tell her no. She was stubborn and hard-headed, butyou have to be when you have a brother who loves to pick at you. We could go on and on about this amazing woman, and there are no words that can sum her up except, she is our angel. Music when soft voices die, vibrates in the memory -- odors, when sweet violets sicken, live within the sense they quicken. Rose leaves, when the rose is dead are heaped for our beloved bed; And so our thoughts, while you are gone, Love itself shall continue on. Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange is in charge of arrangements.
