Remember When?

“A day to be long remembered” is what Wm. F. Hofmann, president of the Fayette Memorial Hospital Board of Directors, called the groundbreaking to officially kickoff construction of the new 60- bed, $1 million facility when he addressed about 400 people gathered for the event. He was joined by Mrs. H.T. Smith, Fayette Memorial Hospital Auxiliary president, and Miss Ida Reichart, hospital administrator, in turning the first spades of soil. Fayette County’s Donella Dopslauf, a freshman at Blinn Junior College, was the 1966 state winner in the 4-H dairy awards. This honor earned her an all-expense paid trip to the National 4-H Congress in Chicago from Nov. 27-Dec.1. Her record was also entered in the national contest for six educational scholarship of $500 each.
