Fayetteville, Flatonia Firefighters Battle Pair of Blazes
Area firefighters battled a pair of fires on Thursday, October 13.
On Thursday morning, around 9:43 a.m., the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call about a pickup truck on fire on Ross Prairie Church Road about a mile southeast of Fayetteville.
According to a report from the Sheriff’s Office, Fayetteville Volunteer Fire Department responded, along with Sheriff’s Deputies Ben Wilson and Joe Martin. Upon arrival they found the pickup fully engulfed. The driver was out of the vehicle.
Fayetteville firefighters quickly extinguished the burning pickup. There were no reported injuries.
Then around 6 p.m. on Thursday, the Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a structure on fire on Burke Road, off State Highway 95 north of Flatonia.
Flatonia Fire and Rescue responded to the blaze, along with Sheriff’s Deputy Terry Guentert. Upon arrive firefighters found a garage fully engulfed in flames.
Flatonia Fire and Rescue requested assistance from Muldoon Volunteer Fire Department, who also responded to the scene.
Firefighters extinguished the burning garage. A report from the Sheriff’s Office said investigators believe the fire started from a window fan.
Fayette County EMS also responded to the scene with an ambulance, but there were no reported injuries.
