Dorothy Mae (Thompson) Korenek, 72, of Schulenburg died Monday, Oct. 17, 2016 at her residence. Dorothy was born on Aug. 14, 1944 in Schulenburg to Henry and Lillie (Barta) Thompson. She attended Schulenburg Elemetary, Fulmer Elementary in Austin, and William B. Travis High School in Austin. She married Leonard Korenek on Sept. 3, 1960 in Dubina. She was an attendance clerk (ADA) in Sant Antonio and Houston and a member of the Lutheran/ Catholic Church. She was a member of the Teachers Retirement System (TRS). She loved cats and animals, was an excellent cook, loved old movies and most of all loved her children and family. She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Lillie (Barta) Thompson; sister, Bernice (Thompson) Miksch; and infant brother, Leonard Thompson. She is survived by her husband, Leonard Korenek; son Robert and wife Jennifer (Lambert) Korenek of Houston; and grandchild Samantha Korenek. A Rosary was recited on Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2016 at 7 p.m. at Schwenke-Baumgarten Funeral Home with Father Wayne Flagg. Funeral services were held on Thursday, Oct. 20, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Church in Dubina. Father Wayne Flagg officiated. Interment followed in the church cemetery in Dubina. Pallbearers were Melvin Barta, Shirley and Bob Loubengeiger, Brenda Miksch, Ryan Kalich and Darrell Schroeder. Schwenke-Baumgarten Funeral Home in Schulenburg was in charge of arrangements.
