Gun and Chili Don’t Mix in Flatonia

Gun-Carrying Felon Arrested Following Struggle at Czhilispiel 

A pair of law enforcement officers disarmed a felon carrying a loaded gun in the crowd at the Flatonia Czhilispiel on Saturday night, Oct. 29.

Fayette County Sheriff’s deputy Perry Kram and Flatonia Police Lt. Troy Rudloff arrested the man following a struggle with the gun in the entertainment tent at the Czilispiel. The episode happened around 10 p.m. Saturday night.

According to a report from Lt. David Beyer of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, a witness reported overhearing the man talking on a cell phone about some kind of violence. The witness provided a description and told police that the man appeared to be carrying a gun in his pants.

Kram and Rudloff located a man matching the description inside the entertainment tent. The officers contacted the man and tried searching him. A struggle ensued. Beyer said Rudloff was able to take the gun away from the man during the struggle.
