Cubettes Headed to 20th State Volleyball Tourney Appearance
BRENHAM – For the first two months of the season, the defending state champion Round Top-Carmine volleyball team lost almost as many games as it won.
Those days are long gone.
Fueled by some of the lessons they learned from that brutal early season schedule, the Cubettes have cruised into the playoffs.
Saturday in Brenham they put the finishing touches on their fourth consecutive sweep this postseason, dominating D’Hanis 25-12, 25-19, 25-22 to win the Region IV-1A title and punch their ticket to this week’s state tournament in Garland.
The Cubettes (24-16) will play Bronte (33-9) Wednesday at 3 p.m. The winner of that semifinal will play the Laird Hill Leverett’s Chapel (31-13)/Tioga (29-14) winner Thursday at 3 p.m. for the state title.
“It’s such an amazing feeling to be headed back to state,” said RT-C senior Madison Krause.
“Words can’t describe it.”
