No New LG Police Chief Yet

La Grange City Council interviewed candidates for the police chief position on Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 14 and 15, but has not yet reached a decision. Council scheduled two more meetings on Nov. 21 and 28 for more interviews and deliberation.

Also at Monday’s regular meeting, Council awarded a management and administrative services contract to Langford and Associates for the City’s 2017-2018 Texas Community Development Block Grant (TxCDBG) application. Council also awarded a contract to Befco of La Grange for engineering services if the City is awarded the grant.

City Manager Shawn Raborn said the City will apply for the TxCDBD grant to pay for a water line project on the north side of town bounded by Roitsch Ln., North Franklin, Pearl, and Madison street.

In other business, Council took the following action:

  • Adopted the 2016 Fayette County Hazard Mitigation Plan;
  • Set the 2017 holiday schedule; and
  • Appointed Jan Dockery to the La Grange Housing Authority Board; Dockery replaces Nicole Ramirez, who declined reappointment.
