2016 Deputy Santa Dates Announced

LG Ford and Oviedo Offering Free Oil Changes for Bicycle Donations

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek and the deputies of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office have announced the dates for this year’s Deputy Santa Program: Nov. 28 to Dec. 22. Toys will be handed out to participants at three different locations on Dec. 22.

Donation bins will be distributed throughout Fayette County to collect toys for children less fortunate this holiday season. The Deputy Santa Program will solicit new and gently used unwrapped toys. Monetary donations will be used to purchase additional new toys for the children from Fayette County that sign up for the program. Sponsorship letters were sent out to area citizens and businesses Sept. 9.

La Grange Ford, Oviedo Chevrolet and Oviedo Dodge-Chrystler-Jeep are offering a free oil change to anyone who donates a bicycle to the program. Schmidt Jewelry donated $1,000 toward the purchase of new bicycles. Cornerstone Dental donated gift bags for all the children. Tin Star in Weimar donated a portion of sales from their one-year anniversary weekend to the Deputy Santa programs in Fayette and Colorado County. A-Prime Self Storage is providing building space to the Deputy Santa Program to store all the gifts as they come in.

Donation sites include: 

  • La Grange – City Hall, Colorado Valley Communications, Dollar General, Fayette Electric Cooperative, Inc., the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, Fayette Savings Bank, Fayetteville Bank, National Bank & Trust, Pioneer Bank, Prosperity Bank, Round Top State Bank, St. Mark’s Medical Center, Subway (both locations), Sutherland’s and Texas One Stop;
  • Carmine – Carmine State Bank;
  • Fayetteville – Fayetteville Bank and the Pct. 2 Justice of the Peace Office;
  • Flatonia – City Hall, Fayette Savings Bank and Oak Manor Nursing Home;
  • Round Top – Round Top State Bank;
  • Schulenburg – Arlan’s Food Market, City Hall, Family Dollar, Fayetteville Bank, General Dollar, Prosperity Bank, and Wells Fargo Bank.

La Grange Ford-Lincoln-Mercury, Oviedo Chevrolet, and Oviedo Dodge-Chrysler-Jeep will also offer free oil changes in exchange for bicycle donations.

To receive assistance from this program children must be 12 years old and under and be a resident of Fayette County. Parents must sign their children up in person; no telephone registrations will be accepted. A birth certificate or copy of your child’s report card must be shown. 

Sign up is required at one of the following locations: Fayette County Sheriff’s Office in La Grange, Schulenburg City Hall, Pct. 2 Justice of the Peace Office in Fayetteville, Round Top State Bank in Round Top and Flatonia City Hall. Sign up dates are November 28 through December 20.
