Tipton Lottery-Rigging Trial Set for Jan. in Iowa
The lottery-rigging trial of former Fayette County Justice of the Peace Tommy Tipton has been set for Jan. 23 in Iowa.
The trail of Tommy’s older brother Eddie Tipton is set for Feb. 13
The two brothers are accused of fixing lottery games in five states.
Eddie Tipton worked for the Iowa-based Multi-State Lottery Association writing random-number generating software.
Turns out winning numbers in several lotteries may not have been so random.
In documents filed last week, the Assistant Iowa Attorney General alleges the scam netted more than $2 million in winnings from lotteries in Colorado, Wisconsin, Kansas and Oklahoma before a plan to win a $16.5 million Iowa jackpot was foiled.
Programs installed on computers in August 2013 show a “intention to continue lottery fixing into the indefinite future” by the Tipton brothers, court documents state.
