Four Departments Fight Two Fires Near Round Top on Wednesday

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office reported on a pair of controlled fires that got out of control on Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 14. The first happened around 1 p.m. on Wednesday on Hackemack Road near Kneip Road in the Round Top area. Round Top-Warrenton Fire Department responded and found a pasture on fire. Round Top-Warrenton firefighters called for mutual aid from the Fayetteville and Carmine fire departments. The Texas Forest Service also responded with a bulldozer.

Then around 1:20 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office received another 911 call reporting a fire out of control on Weyand Road near Round Top Road. Ledbetter Fire Department responded to that fire and quickly extinguished it.

Ledbetter firefighters then responded to the fire on Hackemack Road. The Hackemack Road fire was eventually contained. There were no reported injuries or damaged structures at either fire.
