Remember When?

Dec. 16-20, 1966 A headline on the front page of The Record announced “War declared on the Bluff!” Gophers enjoying the fine grazing on the new golf course were the enemy. Two La Grange High School boys, Don Steinmann and Ronald von Minden, were hired to conduct an extensive trapping project after school and on weekends. The La Grange City Council spent another two hours listening to a delegation from the south side of the Square and discussing the group’s renewed request for a return to angular parking on that block. The spokesman was attorney John C. Marburger.
