Schwake
Elton Lloyd “Al” Schwake, 99, died Dec. 20, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. Elton was born on Aug. 1, 1917 in the little country farming community of O’Quinn, one of four children, the youngest of John and Lottie Schwake. After graduation from LaGrange High School, Elton ran the family farm until he moved to Houston to attend business school. During that time, he met the love of his life, Margaret Kuhlman, who later became his wife. In January 1941, Elton was drafted in the US Army. After his release from the army, Elton and Margaret began their lives together – which culminated in 53 years of marriage. After the service, they moved to Houston where he began his career as an investment/real estate broker. He and Margaret were the proud parents of two daughters, Karen and Lauren, who were daddy’s little girls until the day of his death. A service celebrating Elton’s life was led by Rev. Harold Fleischhauer at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 28 in the sanctuary of St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 1353 Witte Road in Houston, 77055, followed with Military Honors and interment at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
